Om even antwoord te geven op Edwins vraag: ik weet niet wie dat quizje bedacht heeft, maar ik vind hem eigenlijk ook te specifiek. Om het antwoord te weten moet je eigenlijk informatica studeren of met Google kunnen zoeken. (Bovengetekende bevindt zich in de tweede categorie.) Ik vind wel dat je wat te sterk naar mij wijst, omdat ik op deze site de enige student ben die natuurkunde of wiskunde doet.
Quicksort is een eenvoudig sorteer algoritme. De grote O (of de Big-Oh) is een maat voor de snelheid van het algoritme. O( f(n) ) betekent eigenlijk dat als je het aantal te sorteren items verandert dat dan de tijdsduur als f(n) verandert. (Een beetje versimpelt.) Dus bijvoorbeeld O(n) wil zeggen dat de tijdsduur lineair toeneemt met het aantal te sorteren items, en O(n^2) betekent dat de tijdsduur kwadratisch toeneemt. |

Je hebt in principe wel gelijk dat er genoeg onzinnige dingen in de wetenschap zijn. Soms hele takken van de wetenschap. (Bijvoorbeeld biologie.) Maar jouw vraag slaat nergens op. Dat heeft verder ook geen relevantie en aanhang, wat die onderwerpen die je noemde wel hebben.
Het doel van je vraag was simpelweg aan te geven dat je Laurens vraag te moeilijk vond, maar de quizjes is daar nou niet echt de plaats voor. |

Dus de biologie is een onzinnige wetenschap, Georg? Helaas kan ik mijn vakgebied geen historische constructieve waarde ten opzichte van dit forum attribueren, aangezien de medische stand slechts zo'n honderd jaar betrouwbaar is. Voorheen bekeken er toch wel redelijk wat mensen de binnenkant van een doodskist, dankzij dan wel ondanks het toedoen van een arts.
Ik beperk mij dan ook slechts tot het toekennen van een constructieve waarde van de geneeskunde voor de huidige tijd. Zonder de geneeskunde hadden wij wellicht hier niet gezeten, omdat we waren doodgegaan aan één of andere infectie bijvoorbeeld, die nu makkelijk verholpen kon worden door één van mijn toekomstige collega's.
Eigenlijk is deze hele discussie niet erg fijn, aangezien eenieder op deze manier zijn eigen vakgebied(en) op een voetstuk plaatst, en we daardoor uit elkaar gedreven worden. Veel liever breng ik iedereen weer bij elkaar door te zeggen dat iedereen op een bepaalde manier wel afhankelijk is van het vakgebied van een ander.
Mijn vakgebied bijvoorbeeld stelt op wetenschappelijk niveau dan wel niets voor, op maatschappelijk niveau is het toch zeker een belangrijke pijler.
De natuurkunde daarentegen heeft een minder grote maatschappelijke invloed, maar is toch zeker welhaast het visitekaartje van de wetenschap.
Op die manier kunnen we dus elk vakgebied wel langslopen.
Ik wil dan ook graag besluiten met het standpunt dat ieder vakgebied zijn eigen waarde heeft, en dat we die waarde het best kunnen respecteren omdat je uiteindelijk op die manier meer kunt bereiken. Samenwerking, geen tegenwerking dus.

Toch nog iets wat ik niet snapte: In den beginne was er ledigheid al dan niet gecombineerd met chaos. Daarnaast had je God. Die besloot om daar eens verandering in te brengen.
Dit zou impliceren dat God juist géén software engineer was. En dat software engineers alleen maar chaos kunnen veroorzaken. En aangezien het enige dat naast chaos bestond (in den beginne) de ledigheid was, zouden software engineers dus gelijk zijn aan ledigheid. Wat ik sterk waag te betwijfelen. Niet dat het geen grappige vergelijking is. Maar toch.
Waarschijnlijk zal ik het wel weer helemaal verkeerd begrepen hebben. Maar toch wilde ik even weer de nuance aanbrengen in dit geheel.
