Ik was dus van het weekend ook weg, voor 3 dagen, naar de westkust. Was erg leuk. Uren gefietst op de Aran Islands en zondag een stuk gewandeld langs de Cliffs of Moher. Zeker een aanrader.
Tja, DGE afschaffen gaat natuurlijk niet zomaar. Zelf kom ik hier echter soms zomaar een week niet, en misschien zou ik het zelf ook niet al te erg missen. Naast dit forum bezoek ik eigenlijk alleen het RPGDX forum, waar ik meestal wel dagelijks langs ga.
Overstappen op MSN voor de communicatie zit me alleen niet zo lekker. Zullen we met z'n allen Jabber gaan gebruiken, en een vaste chatroom aannemen? :-) |

Hoezo? ik ben niet echt anti-Microsoft hoor, maar ik ben de laatste tijd te vaak afgeknapt op sommige Linux producten. Microsoft software werkt gewoon het vaakst, terwijl die opensource meuk me te vaak hoofdpijn bezorgt.

Windows XP zelf is bij mij, zo'n beetje, nog nooit vast gelopen. Maar IE regelmatig, daarom gebruik ik K-Meleon, das veel beter.
En MSN heeft soms ook kuren, maar je kunt wel een plaatje en custom smileys hebben. Ik weet wel dat dat bij andere IM's ook wel kan, maar dan ziet niemand ze... redelijk nutteloos dus. Wat ik trouwens enorm irritant vind aan MSN zijn die geluidjes, en ze zijn nog van ongekend slechte kwaliteit ook.
Maarja, ik ben lang niet altijd tevreden over Microsoft producten en ik haat de office-assistent. De enige reden dat ik nog niet ben overgestapt op Linux is dat sommige programma's daar niet werken, waarvoor (naar mijn mening) geen goede alternatieven bestaan. Zoals 3DsMAX en Photoshop.

Ja, had dit forum maar een split-topic functie...
Ik durf te beweren dat je geen goede alternatieven voor 3DsMAX en Photoshop hebt gevonden omdat je nog niet echt iets anders hebt proberen te gebruiken. Zo zag ik laatst dat the GIMP 2.0pre3 (ofzo) ook voor Windows te downloaden is (veel beter dan 1.2.5) en voor 3D modellen is Wings3D volgens mij erg handig, met volgens mij veel betere unwrap functionaliteit en meer leuke dingen. |

Ik vraag me af of jij die al geprobeerd hebt, ik denk het ook niet. Dat een programma er leuk uit ziet zegt niks over de bruikbaarheid ervan, kijk maar naar Brice.
Tot nu toe ben ik met geen een programma zo tevreden geweest als met 3DsMAX. Mischien dat ik het een keer ga proberen, maar ik betwijfel dat het kan tippen aan het gebruiksgemak en toch de vele mogelijkheden van MAX.
Brice vond ik een afzichelijk en onhandige UI hebben, en bovendien erg beperkt in z'n mogelijkheden.
Blender had een, naar mijn mening, onmogelijk UI. Heel onoverzichtelijk en onlogisch.
Voordat ik met Photoshop begon heb ik eerst vooral met PSP gewerkt, dat beviel wel redelijk... had alleen een paar minpuntjes.
Daarna GIMP, denk ik. Vond ik heel onhandig van dat je allemaal van die losse schermpjes hebt en ik vind de menu's onoverzichtelijk en teveel bij elkaar gepropt.
Toen een tijdje Artgem, prima programma, alleen wat simpel. Maar wel erg gebruikers vriendelijk.
En toen kwam Photoshop, was even wennen... maar als je het eenmaal onder de knie krijgt is het een toppie programma. Ook heel mooi hoeveel je bij je brushes in kan stellen.
En als ik ergens erg tevreden mee ben, dan ga ik niet overstappen op iets nieuws dat waarschijnlijk minder bevalt en waarvoor ik bovendien niet alleen met een nieuw programma moet leren omgaan... maar ook een heel nieuw besturingssysteem. |

Idd, je klachten over de GIMP (losse vensters en pop-up menu) zijn met 2.0 grotendeels verholpen. Verder geldt voor Wings3D dat ik het daadwerkelijk gebruikt heb, en niet alleen bekeken. Natuurlijk ben ik met geen enkel programma direct zo'n 3D artiest als jij, Frode.
Verder ga je volledig aan het punt voorbij dat Photoshop en 3DsMAX je al je spaargeld zouden kosten, maar goed, daar heb ik me ook jarenlang niks van aangetrokken. |

Oh oh oh... Het gaat weer op de oude manier nergens over. Nou ja, dan moet ik na maandenlang schandedragend met de stilte mee te hebben gedaan ook maar even een zegje doen.
Gelukkig lijkt het anti-microsoftisme hier al een beetje laag, al weten we dat sommige mensen nog steeds erg anti zijn. 't Blijft altijd jammer door vooroordelen een bedrijf af te kraken. Of door angst of watdanook.
Als het gaat om chatservice clienten, zijn er inderdaad genoeg verschillende te vinden. Microsoft Messenger is dan inderdaad niet de beste. Maarja, wat is wel de beste? Dingen die je naar eigen hand kunt zetten? Of juist het tegenovergestelde, het hardhandig zetten van een standaard? Waar gaat het nou eindelijk om? Een beperkte vorm van communicatie omdat de meeste mensen te gierig zijn om de telefoon te pakken! Voor mijzelf is het vrij simpel. Ik gebruik namelijk Messenger van Microsoft. Die werkt verrekte makkelijk, zoals ongetwijfeld vele andere met jabber ondersteuning en icq en whatever. Dat intereseert me allemaal toch niet, want het gaat me om de Messenger service van MS, niet om de rest. Zelfs als er genoeg betere clienten zijn, loont het, voor mij, niet de moeite om me daar überhaupt in te verdiepen. Als het van Microsoft is, moet het wel goed zitten, het bedrijf is te groot om er een zootje van te maken.
Voor zover ik me heb laten vertellen, wat niet zo veel zegt, zijn er nog geen goede alternatieven voor 3d studio max. Maarja, wat wil je, aan opensource wordt niet veel verdiend. Dan mag zo'n 3d softwarepakket wel een hoop geld kosten, maar dat kan het ook nog best wel waard zijn; sterker nog, dat is het ook. Ikzelf heb sowieso veel meer vertrouwen in producten waar mensen een hoop geld aan verdienen dan in producten van een groepje zeer professionele hobbieisten.
En als je over layout wilt klagen met onoverzichtelijkheid, begin je natuurlijk bij jezelf. Als je ergens mee bezig bent waar veel info voor nodig is, zal de software van tijd tot tijd ook veel informatie op het scherm weer willen/moeten geven, zoals elk ontwerpprogramma ook wel zal doen. Als de boel dan een 'onmogelijk UI' heeft en spul 'teveel bij elkaar gepropt' lijkt, kun je je misschien afvragen of je je wel in een juiste ontwerpomgeving bevindt. Het meeste ontwerp gebeurt in hoge schermresoluties, vaak nog met verkleinde fonts ook. Als je ervoor kiest om minder ruimte te willen gebruiken, moet je niet klagen dat je minder ruimte hebt of dat het onoverzichtelijk is. (net zoals je bij TomeNET niet moet klagen dat je niet everlasting wilt spelen, maar ook geen ressurectie wilt verliezen als je bij een niet-everlaster doodgaat... :)
Anyway... Om inderdaad nog wat leven rondom bepaalde data terug te laten komen, wil ik even vragen wat ik van zondag moet verwachten. Hoeveel mensen komen er langs bij dit relatief kleinschalige en behoorlijk opmerkelijke evenement? En hoeveel tijd zijn mensen bereid te verliezen? ;) |

Wij zijn nu met z'n 3en eindelijk een unworldly team begonnen, zonder enige vorm van kaas. Alles eerlijk halen enzo. Onze everlasting party / guild is een beetje te super; we kunnen een nieuw karakter (vanzelfsprekend yeek) met gemak van level 1 tot 60 krijgen in 1 dag. |

Uitdaging? Haha! Wij zijn zo goed dat het echt geen uitdaging betreft, gewoon eer en vooral al die zeikende unworldlies en normal players (jij, Bjørn, hoort daar ook bij) laten zien dat wij ook echt wel goed zijn :)
Je bent niet meer zo weg van het spelletje? Je bent het nooit geweest :( Gelukkig zal Georg binnenkort wel meedoen. En ook Anthousa heeft een TomeNET speler beloofd het spel binnenkort eens serieus te proberen. |
